Kinetics

Kinetics, the Film: Where Parkinson's Meets Parkour

At the age of 50, actress and writer Sue Wylie was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's, a degenerative neurological condition which reduces and ultimately ceases the brains ability to produce dopamine, the chemical that helps us control our movement.

Having overcome the initial shock of the diagnosis and experienced first hand the effects of the condition and the drugs currently prescribed to treat it, Sue recognised in her situation an opportunity, to use her experiences, along with those of others she had met, as the basis for a play that would tackle the issues of diagnosis, drug treatment, patient care and the lack of public discourse surrounding Parkinson's.

KINETICS

When Rose is diagnosed with early-onset Parkinsons she meets Lukas, a frustrated young pupil who finds his release through Parkour. Starting off as a play which then followed a critically acclaimed theatrical tour - there was widespread demand to turn this play into a short feature film. In its entirety, the film was Kickstarter backed, built, setup & shot in two weeks to which I assisted in camera operation & set design with BAND films.
